“Healing” Herkimer Diamond Event in the Mines and Deposits within the Herkimer Mining District
In the Herkimer Mining District there is a very late quartz event, after the Herkimer diamonds have formed.  It isn’t seen in all of the time, but occurs enough to give it status as a unique event across the district.  What is discovered sometimes are well formed crystals that have been etched, or healed (frorming a crystaline surface on a broken edge).  This is the last quartz event in the district.  In some instances the hopper edges of the crystal will have soft rounded edges.
